Project N. 7/49   Senegal, 2015

Centre Cardio-Pédiatrique Cuomo (CCPC)

World-class paediatric cardiology care and surgery

This innovative and ground-breaking medical centre will provide, for the first time, world-class paediatric cardiology care and surgery for the children of Senegal and the entire Sub-Saharan African region. Historically, in this region, a near total lack of appropriate medical assistance meant that very few children with heart ailments survived. This flagship paediatric hospital will transform and be lifesaving for the entire region and its communities. The Cuomo Foundation is a leading partner along with La Chaîne de l’Espoir, the Government of the Republic of Senegal and the Etablissement public de santé de Fann.

The Foundation has collaborated with La Chaîne de l’Espoir and its founder Alain Deloche for a number of years on humanitarian projects in Cambodia, Afghanistan and Haiti and has a history of involvement and support in the Western African countries.

Construction commenced in June 2015 and is due for completion in 2017.

The Foundation's past involvement in the Arts and in particular with African artists for Sene'Gala (2008), inspired the commission, in 2015, to create murals and installations for the future paediatric hospital. A group of contemporary Senegalese artists, collectively known as "Secret des 10", has already commenced work on this exciting project.
