As part of its weekly program "Mardi de l’Afrique", CANAL + Africa has produced and broadcast a documentary featuring the painting contest "Dora" organized in the Royal Court of Tiébélé, Burkina Faso. An initiative of the association Dizénidani, the contest is supported, right from its launch in 2014, by the Cuomo Foundation.
The feature presented by the journalist Edwige Klutse covers the 3 days of the 2019 edition of the event and highlights the exceptional cultural value of the century-old settlement. The site remains one of the most emblematic expressions of the Kassena people and their heritage.
The competition is designed for girls from schools in the region who, during these 3 days of activities, acquire not only the technical mastery required to perpetuate their traditions, but also their idiosyncratic cultural traits passed down from generation to generation.
The support of the Cuomo Foundation allows the Dizénidani association, headed by Mr. Kasimir Nassara, to organize, throughout the year, various educational and cultural activities aimed at the youth of the region.
